Alan Douglass

After high school I enlisted in the Coast Guard and spent 4 years chasing down drug smugglers, returning Haitians to their native land and rescuing fishermen and other mariners. After the Coast Guard, I enrolled at UMass-Lowell and settled down with my high school sweetheart, Nancy Flynn in 1988. Our wedding was fun (except for the fainting part) and had Erik Jorgensen as Best Man and Tim Arnold on violin.

I received my degree in Environmental Science in 1991 and have been
working in that field ever since, for consulting firms and the electric utility industry. Nancy and I stayed in Massachusetts after school and now reside in beautiful Wilbraham, "Home of Friendly's Ice Cream" (you may have seen the hedge on the Mass. Pike). We are the proud, and often tired, parents of 4 boys, Patrick, 11, Luke, 7, Jack, 5 and Brian, 18 months. I now work for a power generation development company and actually have my office in a power plant in West Springfield (kind of like Homer Simpson).
